AJ Aeberli wins 160lb NY State Championship

AJ AeberliCongratulations to AJ Aeberli for winning this past weekends New York State Division I Wrestling Championship at 160lbs! AJ Aeberli is a senior for Minisink Valley, which is located inside the Section IX region of New York. AJ placed fifth at 160lbs last year and was determined to get on top of the podium this year. In addition to being a Wrestler Nutrition member since freshman year, AJ also started making the hour and half drive down to Kenilworth, NJ to train in Champion Athletes high altitude chamber. With his nutrition and weight in-check and his improved conditioning there would be no stopping AJ this year!

“The whole nutrition program is great! It helped me tremendously throughout my career. It got me down to weight and still feeling good and strong. The chamber was amazing. It mimicked the real feel of a wrestling match where you had to keep pushing yourself when it got tough. And it helped me in my wrestling with an unbelievable difference, where I could wrestle hard for long periods of time without being winded and still ready to go.” -AJ Aeberli 2016 NYS Champion at 160lbs

AJIn order to win this years championship AJ would have to avenge his only two losses of the season. In the semi-finals AJ secured his trip to the finals with a hard fought 2-1 decision over Fordham Prep’s Adam Santoro. In the finals AJ would once again have to take out an opponent who had beaten him at this years Eastern States Classic in, Section 8’s Ricky Stamm. Up 3-2 with a minute to go Aeberli injured his ankle while defending a takedown. After being looked at by trainers AJ was able to make his way back to the center and grind out a hard fought 3-2 victory. AJ is the first State Champion for Minisink Valley since 1991! Congratulations AJ!
